Design In Progress

The V3 BenchBot is designed to accommodate various equipment such as cameras, effectors, or complex combinations of equipment. These can be generically considered “payloads” or in the situation “Tools”.

In order to keep the scope of any part of the project reasonable and to allow for future applications of the BenchBot without redesign, a standard interface for connecting and using these “Tools” is necessary.

This interface specification contains mechanical, electrical, and control / data aspects (API).

Mechanical

This is how the equipment will physically mount to the BenchBot.

Electrical

This is how the system will get power and the nature of any communications wiring / voltage levels.

API

This is the software-defined part of the communications / control link. This is massaging protocols, formats, and data types.
