Initial Design Overview

Problem areas identified

Functional

Navigation system

  • The current navigation system lacks intuitiveness.

  • Inconsistent system across different platforms

  • Search options could be inserted to make the information more easily accessible.

  • Unclear function of navigation bars  (Options to bring you to different parts of the website vs sequential form-navigation bars)

  • The navigation across the tools might be overwhelming for first-time visitors to the website. ( Consistent Tooltips needed )

Layout of content

  • The content currently is cluttered and overcrowded.

  • Chronologically set content missing.

  • Cognitive overload due to information overload.

  • The Information is currently not prioritized based on user needs.

  • The hierarchy of the content can be made more progressive.

Loading time

  • Some pages have longer loading times because of heavy images.

Visual

Look and feel

  • The color and look of different tools are different and need to be more cohesive.

  • The layout of the website is different across different tools ( eg Econ tool is anchored on the left, while the seed calculator is anchored in the middle, and the selector is fit to the page)

  • White spaces and visual layout are imbalanced across different pages.

Inconsistent UX elements across different platforms. (eg buttons, text inputs, forms, navigation, colors, text type, etc.)

Landing page

  • Too much information for a landing page can overwhelm the user.

  • Time to go through it is more than the average attention span, current layout needs to be a little lightweight, with progressive information unloading.

  • How relevant is the information on the landing page, and What is the priority on the page? What actions does the page want to achieve?

Questions

  1. How much is the current footfall? and what are the metrics? What does the data tell about user needs?

  2. What has already been tried before? and what were the outcomes of the usability tests then?

  3. Which pages do they find more useful?

  4. Which part of the world do your visitors majorly come from?

  5. What are your most valuable landing pages right now?

  6. Which parts of your website work well according to previous data and feedback?

  7. Which aspects do you want to improve? Conversion rates, traffic, retention?

  8. Can your visitors find the content they’re looking for?

  9. Do all the farmers already know about this website and how they work or how they are all connected in the umbrella one?

  10. How much time do they spend on the website on average?

  11. Which are the most used tools and how are the metrics for that tool different from the least used tool?

  12. Is it up-to-date about your company and/or services? (About page missing)
