AltaRes app

Custom apps are key for data and metadata collection and sharing standardization. We have developed an android app which guides the users through the process of collecting images and the corresponding metadata and allows them to upload their data to our data base in a simple and reliable way.

Through a series of dropdowns and buttons the users can enter metadata and attach images to the app which then makes packages of data which get uploaded to the cloud. This makes taking care of metadata much easier for our end users and increases reliability.

Once the data is in the database it can be automatically feed into the AgIR Field image processing pipeline.

Data flow diagram from end user to database. The data and metadata are entered to the app by the user, next, the app packages data and metadata and finally that data package is uploaded to the cloud through the app.

Glossary

  • Data package: contains all data and metadata for a scene or target plant. It is saved on the tablet until the user uploads it to the database. This upload also happens through the app.

  • AgIR Database: the data packages are saved in the database under a standardize package name and a unique identifier which allows for automated parsing and categorization.
