Dispersion Volume

Dispersion Volume

The volume of liquid dispersed onto a target can be adjusted by varying the vehicle velocity, valve open time and targeting spacing.

Valve open time

The longer the valve is open for, the more fluid will be dispersed. On the moving platform this appears as longer lines of liquid printed onto the objects. (Volume per open time is also a factor of pressure and fluid properties, but does not vary significantly)

Liquid dispersion from two valve open times. Vehicle velocity 0.8m/s

Targeting spacing

In the targeting software the grid which is overlaid onto the plants can be adjusted so that fewer dots are sprayed.

Note that if the vertical spacing of the dots is less the open time of the valve it will ignore a second trigger command while the valve is still open (this logic is on the PLC not the python script).

Examples of three different spacing configurations.

Velocity

The faster the travel over the object, the lower the volume rate per area
