Admin Role Identification

Admin Role Identification

Below are perspectives that will help as we define our testing goals for the Seeding Rate Calculator. Multiple people can hold the same role, or one person can hold multiple roles (for example: The Product Owner and Stakeholder Rep are often the same person).

What’s important is that we can have these perspectives available in the meeting so that the goals we uncover are holistic and realistic.

Product Owner (Combine with Sustainability Expert)

As a Product Owner, you are the decision maker on the product direction. You work to solicit input from all members of the team, and use it to align and communicate the vision for the project. As we define the testing goals, your role is to help us answer:

  • What value can the testers provide for the growth and evolution of the tool? What is their purpose?

  • Which goals help us achieve that value?

  • If there are multiple competing goals, which of these is the higher priority?

Steven Mirsky & Chris Reberg-Horton, with Mikah being their more accessible representative

Development Rep

The development rep advocates for the perspective and needs of the developers. They also coordinate how the planned test with align with expected development changes. As we define the testing goals, your role is to help us answer:

  • What window is realistic for testing based on planned updates to the tool?

  • What features could benefit from validation or more respondent input?

  • What areas of the tool are open or closed for feedback?

  • Will these goals empower the developers to make actionable improvements to the value of the tool?

Mikah Pinegar

Subject Matter Expert / Content Expert

This individual knows the content (i.e. what plants are in the tool, what measurements are there) and why it’s included. They also coordinate how the planned tests align with expected content plans. As we define the testing goals, your role is to help us answer:

  • What parts of the tool could benefit from validation or more respondent input?

  • What areas of the content are open or closed for feedback?

  • Will these goals empower the developers to make actionable improvements to the value of the content in the tool?

Victoria Ackroyd, Heather Darby, Anna Morrow, Clair Aiken, Dean Baas

Respondent Rep(s) (Combine with Stakeholder Rep)

This individual has an empathetic understanding of the needs and expertise of respondents. They can speak to the different perspectives of both respondents and the eventual users of the tool. As we define the testing goals, your role is to help us answer:

  • What level of availability, interest, and knowledge would an individual need to be a respondent, based on our goals?

  • Which perspectives are valuable for reaching the goals of testing and which aren’t?

  • What level of effort, availability, technology use, or engagement is realistic for this group of respondents? What works for them and what doesn’t?

  • What perspectives will be hard to find? Are our goals achievable without these perspectives?

Heather Darby, Dean Baas

Stakeholder Rep(s) (Combine with Respondent Rep)

This individual knows the needs of key stakeholders, and the value that these stakeholders expect to be uncovered or amplified as development continues. This individual also knows constraints or requirements to keep in mind from partnerships.

  • What groups or partners have a stake in these goals? How are they engaged?

  • What value can the testers provide for the needs of our stakeholders?

  • Do the goals we’re choosing help us meet the expectations of stakeholders?

  • What goals are required or essential from a stakeholder perspective?

Victoria Ackroyd, Heather Darby, Anna Morrow, Karl Anderson

Sustainability Expert (Combine with Product Owner)

This individual keeps goals grounded and realistic based on the needs of the organization and other ongoing projects. They can shed light on timing, resourcing, and risks based on the identified goals. As we define the testing goals, your role is to help us answer:

  • Do the goals fit with our organizational objectives?

  • Does the approach to reach the goals feel realistic based on team availability, effort, and engagement?

  • What risks could impact the feasibility of meeting these goals or this testing approach?

  • Are our goals achievable from an organizational standpoint?

Steven Mirsky & Chris Reberg-Horton, with Mikah being their more accessible representative
