Goal Setting Discussion for WCCC Selector Tool

Goal Setting Discussion for WCCC Selector Tool

With user testing we want to be able to answer the question: Does [TOOL] provide [VALUE] to [AUDIENCE]?

For this project, we define those variables as:

  • [TOOL]: Cover Crop Selector

  • [VALUE]: The tool is empowering, easy to use, and provides accurate information.

  • [AUDIENCE]: Audience in the collective below will be referred to as “users” and include the following groups

GOALS:

OUR GOAL is that through testing, we will be able to assess if the Cover Crop Selector empowers users to browse cover crops that are relevant to them, see key information to inform their decision-making around cover crops, compare crops in detail, and export this information for future use. We can apply the following user stories to gather data on how well the tool achieves this objective:

  1.

OUR GOAL is that through testing, we will be able to assess if the WCCC Cover Crop Selector feels easy to use for the target audience as they explore which cover crops to use rates. We can apply the following user stories to gather data on how well the tool achieves this objective:

  1. Users understand what to do to make their way through the tool.

  2. Users understand the results they get from the tool.

  3. It is easier for users to use this tool when compared to existing tools.

  4. The above is true no matter what level of technology experience someone has.

OUR GOAL is that through testing, we will be able to assess if the Cover Crop Selector provides accurate information to support the work of the target audience. We can apply the following user stories to gather data on how well the tool achieves this objective:

  1. The tool provides information that is accurate to a user’s location.

  2. Users feel the tool provides options that fits their needs and resources.

  3. Users feel that the species available are complete.

  4. Users trust the information they get from this tool.

Testing Constraints

How can the testing be conducted in order to achieve our goals?

Participant Needs:

  • What types of testers will provide key perspectives (geographically, tech experience wise, knowledge wise, etc)

  • What types of testers might be difficult to narrow down?

  • What sort of availability and participation constraints should we keep in mind when designing the approach?

Question Suggestion

What are some questions you all would be curious for us to ask testers?

  • ie. What are the main factors for you that determine which kind of cover crop works for you? Does this tool effectively cover these factors?
